Tanners Restaurant is run by us, Christopher and James Tanner, and our dedicated team in the stunning grade one listed Prysten House, which dates back to 1490. We offer fine local produce, prepared and served lunchtimes and dinner five days a week.
You can choose from our set menus, individually priced dishes or a gastronomic tasting with matched wines.
Local Quality Produce
Our kitchen team embraces the changing seasons and use the best local quality products from the Westcountry larder. From local meats, fresh vegetables to stunning line caught fish. We even have a forager who we work closely with to discover the best the area can offer.
We can cater for all dietary requirements.
The Frater Room
The Frater Room is a stunning oak panelled dining room for available for private dining and special occasions.
Tanners Restaurant is managed by Ben Wilson who has worked alongside Chris and James for the last eight years. Ben is as passionate about wine as he is food. He put together the wine lists for the restaurant and has achieved recognition for the wine collection and his passion in his chosen field.
Martyn Compton is the brothers’ Head Chef and runs the kitchen here at Tanners. Martyn is a passionate individual when it comes to food and has a CV that spans some of the top kitchens; now he passes on his knowledge with Chris and James, through to the team.
